WHY INFORMATICS ?
I studied Informatics with a concentration in HCI at the UW. I learned all aspects of developing technology and leveraging information systems to generate actionable knowledge. I felt I needed to understand developing technology before I could start designing it.
Data Science
Database & Modelling
Design
Software Engineering
Systems Analysis
Web Development
WHY DESIGN ?
I get to explore the fascinating field of technology to solve complex problems while having a gratifying creative release. It is a blend of comprehending the human mind coupled with understanding computers and software to figure out a shared channel of communication reducing the burden on both entities.
MY SECRET INGREDIENTS

Empathy

Knowing how to talk, so people will listen and more importantly how to listen, so people will talk is essential

99 Problems

"A problem well stated is a problem half solved" - Charles Kettering, Head of Research,
General Motors ( 1920 - 1947 )

Tell Tales

From film making I learned how to generate a detailed informational narrative to progress a user through this interactive medium

Collaboration

Appreciate the value in diverse perspectives. Leverage expertise from other fields of technology development to boost knowledge and accuracy of solving the problem at hand

If you love something...

... Let it go.

MY JOURNEY
Growing up I wanted to be an inventor. I would tinker with anything I could get my hands on. My passion for engineering compelled me to build a shoe that generates electricity when walking, a smart bag-pack that identifies missing textbooks using RFID tags and a smart low cost saline monitoring system for rural understaffed hospitals
Contrastingly, being inspired by Dragon Ball Z and Harry Potter I decided to re-create famous scenes like the Kamehameha and Expelliarmus that threw me into the world of movie making and VFX. This hobby of mine taught me tools such as After Effects, Photoshop, Cinema 4D, etc. During this time I also formally learned hand drawn animation.
Coming to UW as pre-engineering, I spent the first two years figuring out what I wanted to pursue. It wasn't until the end of my sophomore year I took a class in User Centered Design where for the first time, I saw the fusion of creativity and technology. An area where I could solve problems using technology while showcasing my creativity.
